Discovered that varroa don't feed on hemolymph

For many years it was thought that varroa mites feed on hemolymph. Apparently it was caused by a translation error, but as with a lot of beekeeping "cut and paste" it was readily accepted, that is, until Samuel Ramsey started investigating. Samuel found that varroa were feeding on the fat bodies of the bee, not the hemolymph. This was a very important discovery that has thrown doubt on some of the treatments recommended.

As well as some varroa pages, the buttons on the left access the scientific paper and one of the video's where Samuel Ramsey describes his discoveries. They make very interesting reading and listening.
