Lecturing about beekeeping and allied subjects |
|---|
I have done a fair amount of lecturing, in the past, about beekeeping and allied subjects and can prepare a lecture on more or less any beekeeping aspect to non beekeeping groups and organizations and about specific beekeeping topics to beekeepers and beekeeping associations. My subjects are biased towards bee breeding and in recent years have developed a considerable emphasis on Instrumental Insemination and the technicalities of II equipment as well as methods of storing semen.
I make a token charge to cover expenses and travelling, but profit is not my motive. I also expect some sort of donation towards the upkeep cost of my ever growing website. If I can promote a better understanding of bees and their ways then that is my reward.
My Disability and physical decline make travel difficult these days and if there are long distances involved, then you may be faced with bed and breakfast charges for both the day before and the day of the conference, as my physical reserves do not run to doing more than one thing on any given day. I will also need assistance for carrying of any equipment used as 'props' or overhead projector etc.
The strength of my voice is not as great as it used to be, but even if my delivery is not as strong as it once was, the audience will still 'get the message'.
Most of my lectures rely on an overhead projector, as I have developed an aversion to 'PowerPoint' presentations... These are a slick way of firing information at an audience and may make the lecturer's job easier, but I reckon it is the audience and their retention of information that is the important factor, after all that is what the lecturer is there for.
This website is really a great big collection of lectures and anecdotes, as well as a condensation of many of the things that I have learned over the years.
